FAQ

Short answers to the things people ask most. If yours isn’t here, email us — a real person reads it.

What is Soul Lift for?

One affirmation a day, chosen around what you said you want to work on. It’s deliberately small — a moment you can keep, rather than another thing to fall behind on.

How do I get a new affirmation?

Swipe right on the affirmation for a new one, and swipe left to go back to the previous one. Double-tap it (or tap the heart) to save it to your Favourites.

How does the streak work?

Opening Soul Lift and reading your affirmation counts as that day’s practice — there’s nothing to tick off. The streak counts consecutive days, and it resets if you miss one.

I missed a day and lost my streak. Can I get it back?

No, and that’s deliberate — a streak you can restore isn’t really measuring anything. Your total days practised and your longest-ever streak both stay on your Profile, and those don’t reset.

What are the glowing numbers and the popups?

Your streak counter picks up a stronger glow as it grows, and you’ll get a short congratulation at 3, 10, 20, 30 and 50 days, then every 25 days after that. There’s nothing to unlock — they’re just a marker.

Do I need an account?

No. Soul Lift works fully offline with no sign-up at all. Adding an email and password only does one thing: it backs your streak and favourites up so they survive a lost or replaced phone.

Will I lose everything if I delete the app?

If you never added an email, yes — everything lives only on that device. With an account, sign in again on the new phone and your progress comes back.

How do I change my daily reminders?

Profile → Reminders. You can set how many you get and the window they’re spread across. Reminders are an iPhone and Android feature — browsers can’t schedule them.

How do I change the background photo?

Tap the wallpaper button in the bottom-right of the Home screen, or go to Profile → Themes. Every theme is available to everyone; none of them are locked behind a streak or a payment.

Where do the affirmations come from?

They’re a written, curated library — not generated for you on the fly. Which ones you see is shaped by the focus areas you picked, and you can change those any time in Profile → Focus.

What is the short message that sometimes appears at the top of Home?

An occasional nudge, written from your practice history — how many days you’ve shown up and which topics you read. It appears once there’s enough history to say something true, shows at most once a day, and quietly stays away when there isn’t.

Why does an affirmation I’ve already saved keep coming back?

Saving one mostly steps it out of the daily rotation, but not entirely — a favourite resurfaces every so often on purpose, so the lines that meant something to you come back around rather than disappearing the moment you save them.

Can I write my own affirmations?

Yes — Profile → My affirmations. Those stay on your device and aren’t uploaded anywhere.

How do I delete my data?

Profile → Settings → Reset app clears everything on the device. If you have an account and want it deleted from our servers too, email us and we’ll remove it.

Privacy Policy

The short version

Soul Lift is built to work without knowing much about you. Everything you do is stored on your own device first, and the app is fully usable with no account, no email, and no internet connection.

We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

What stays only on your device

The answers you give during onboarding — your age range, gender, relationship status, star sign, how you’re feeling, what you want to improve, and anything you typed — never leave your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers, and they are never sent to any AI provider.

The same is true of any affirmations you write yourself, and of your background-sound and theme preferences.

What we store if you create an account

Adding an email and password is optional and exists for one reason: so your progress survives a lost or replaced phone. If you do, we store the following on our servers, hosted by Supabase:

  • Your email address and an encrypted form of your password.
  • Your display name, if you entered one.
  • Your streak: current run, longest run, total days practised, and the date you last practised.
  • Your saved (favourite) affirmations.
  • A per-day record of which topic categories you read. This is kept for 90 days and then automatically deleted.
  • Your chosen background theme and reminder settings.

Anonymous accounts

When the app first launches it may quietly create an anonymous account for you. This has no email attached and identifies a device, not a person — it exists so that your data has somewhere to live if you later decide to add an email. If you never do, that anonymous record holds nothing that identifies you.

The occasional nudge

The short nudge that sometimes appears at the top of the Home screen is generated by Google’s Gemini model. To produce it we send a deliberately minimal summary: your current streak length, the names of the topic categories you read, and the dates you practised.

We do not send your name, your email, your onboarding answers, anything you have written, or any indication of your mood. The model cannot identify you from what it receives.

You should know that Google’s free service tier may use content submitted to it to improve their models. This is precisely why the summary we send contains no personal or identifying information.

Notifications

Daily reminders are scheduled locally by your own phone. We are not told when they fire, whether you opened them, or whether you dismissed them, and no reminder data reaches our servers.

Photos you upload

If you add your own background photo, it is copied into the app’s private storage on your device. It is not uploaded to us and not shared with anyone.

Children

Soul Lift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights and choices

You can erase everything held on your device at any time using Profile → Settings → Reset app.

If you have an account and want the server-side copy accessed, corrected, exported, or permanently deleted, email [email protected] and we will action it. Depending on where you live you may have these rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the CCPA; we honour them regardless of where you live.

Service providers

We use Supabase for account storage and syncing, and Google (Gemini) for the nudge described above. Those providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not share your information with anyone else.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use Soul Lift after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Terms & Conditions

Last updated 27 July 2026

Agreement

These terms are between you and Soul Lift (“we”, “us”), and they govern your use of the Soul Lift app. By using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the app.

Soul Lift is not medical care

This is the most important term here. Soul Lift provides affirmations and general wellbeing content for reflection. It is not therapy, counselling, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

Nothing in the app — including the AI-written nudges — should be used to diagnose or treat any condition, and you should not delay or disregard professional advice because of something you read here.

If you are in crisis or may be at risk of harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. Soul Lift cannot help in an emergency and does not monitor for them.

Your account

You may use Soul Lift without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Soul Lift.

Subscriptions and payment

Some features may be offered as a paid subscription. If they are, the price and billing period are shown to you before you purchase, and payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, not in Soul Lift — we cannot cancel or refund an App Store purchase on your behalf. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law, or use Soul Lift to harm or harass anyone.
  • Copy, resell, or redistribute the affirmation library or other app content.
  • Reverse engineer the app, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.
  • Interfere with the app’s operation, or attempt to overwhelm or probe our systems.

Content you write

Affirmations you write and photos you add remain yours. They are stored on your own device and we do not claim any rights over them.

Our content

The affirmation library, artwork, designs, and the Soul Lift name remain our property or our licensors’. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside the app, and nothing more.

Availability

We aim to keep Soul Lift working but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Features may change or be withdrawn, and syncing depends on services and connections outside our control.

Your data

Because Soul Lift stores your progress on your device, uninstalling the app without an account permanently deletes it. Keep an account if that matters to you — we cannot recover data we never held.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending your use

You can stop using Soul Lift at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will make that clear in the app, and continuing to use Soul Lift means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes fall to the courts of Victoria, Australia.
