Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026
The short version
Soul Lift is built to work without knowing much about you. Everything you do is stored on your own device first, and the app is fully usable with no account, no email, and no internet connection.
This policy covers both the Soul Lift app and the soul-lift.net website.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking anywhere in the app or on the website. The app measures nothing at all. The website counts visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, follows you nowhere else, and builds no profile of you.
What stays only on your device
The answers you give during onboarding — your age range, gender, relationship status, star sign, how you’re feeling, what you want to improve, and anything you typed — never leave your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers, and they are never sent to any AI provider.
One clarification, because the two are easy to confuse. Those answers are used on your device to pick a starting set of topics for you, and that resulting list of topics — the same one you can edit yourself under Profile → Focus — does sync with your account if you have one, and is listed below as something we store. So the answer stays on the phone; the setting it produced does not.
The same is true of your music-volume setting and of which days of the week your reminders fire on.
The affirmations you write and the background photos you add are the one case where it depends. They stay on your device while your account is anonymous, and they are backed up to your account once you add an email — at which point they are listed below under what we store. The section on anonymous accounts sets out exactly where that line falls.
What we store if you create an account
Adding an email and password is optional and exists for one reason: so your progress survives a lost or replaced phone. If you do, we store the following on our servers, hosted by Supabase:
- Your email address, and a hashed form of your password. Hashed rather than encrypted: the process is deliberately one-way, so nobody — including us — can turn what is stored back into the password you chose.
- Your display name, if you entered one.
- Your streak: current run, longest run, total days practised, the date you last practised, and which streak milestones you have already been congratulated for.
- Your saved (favourite) affirmations.
- The affirmations you have written yourself, and any edits or deletions you make to them.
- The background photos you have uploaded, and how you framed each one. The image files are held in private storage, readable only by your account.
- A per-day record of which topic categories you read. This is kept for 90 days and then automatically deleted.
- The topics you chose to focus on, and your daily goal.
- Your chosen background theme.
- Whether affirmation reminders are switched on, how many you asked for, and the daily window they are spread across. The days of the week you picked, and the guided and streak reminders, stay on the device — a notification schedule belongs to a phone rather than to an account.
Anonymous accounts
When the app first launches it may quietly create an anonymous account for you. This has no email attached and identifies a device, not a person — it exists so that your data has somewhere to live if you later decide to add an email. If you never do, that anonymous record holds nothing that identifies you.
Affirmations you write and photos you upload are the exception: those only reach our servers once you add an email and password. On an anonymous account they stay on the device, which means deleting the app deletes them.
Update emails
When you create an account in the app there is a tick box, off by default, asking whether you would like occasional updates about Soul Lift. If you tick it, we store the email address on your account and the date you ticked it, and nothing else — no name, no IP address, no device information, and no advertising identifier. That list is held by Cloudflare, in a database created in the Asia-Pacific region.
What you get is four emails, on days 3, 10, 17 and 24 after you signed up, about getting something out of the app. Then it stops. There is no weekly newsletter and nothing that continues indefinitely. We never sell or share the address, and we do not track whether you opened anything — there is no tracking pixel in our emails and no rewritten links.
Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately, with no confirmation step. You can also ask us to remove the address entirely by emailing [email protected].
Soul Lift ran a launch waitlist on soul-lift.net. It is closed, the signup form is gone, and no further emails are sent to the addresses that joined it. Those addresses have not been deleted — the unsubscribe links already in people’s inboxes have to keep working, and deleting the record is how a stray re-import brings somebody back. Ask us and we will remove yours.
Emails about your account
If you create an account in the app, we send one email confirming it. That is a service message about your own account rather than marketing, so it is sent whether or not you have asked for anything else, and it has no unsubscribe link — it links to your email preferences instead.
If you ask to reset your password, we send you a link and a one-time code. Both are produced by Supabase, which manages accounts for us; we send the email itself so that it looks like Soul Lift rather than like a default. The link and the code expire after an hour.
When your password is changed, we send a short confirmation saying so. It contains no link and no code and asks nothing of you — its only purpose is that if you did not make that change, you find out. Like the other two, it is a service message rather than marketing and has no unsubscribe link.
Those three are the only emails we will ever send you about your own account, and there are no others. Anything beyond them is optional and off unless you tick the box when you create your account — that is the four-email series described above, and every one of them carries an unsubscribe link. If you do not tick it, no record is created in that system at all and you will never receive one.
The occasional nudge
The short nudge that sometimes appears at the top of the Home screen is generated by Google’s Gemini model. To produce it we send a deliberately minimal summary: your current streak length, the names of the topic categories you read, and the dates you practised.
We do not send your name, your email address, your account id, your onboarding answers, anything you have written, or any indication of your mood. Nothing in what Google receives names you, and Google has no way to work out who you are from it.
We would rather be precise than reassuring, so: because we can connect that summary back to your account at our end, we treat it as information about you and give it the same protection as everything else in this policy, instead of calling it anonymous and stopping there.
You should know that Google’s free service tier may use content submitted to it to improve their models. That is exactly why the summary is built the way it is — a streak number, some topic names and some dates, and nothing that identifies a person.
This is the only feature in Soul Lift that sends anything to an AI provider, and it never looks back more than a week. You can switch it off in Profile → Settings → Preferences → Home nudge. Off means no request is made at all, rather than the request still happening and the result being hidden — so nothing is sent. Everything else in the app works exactly as before.
That switch is remembered on the device you set it on, so if you install Soul Lift on a second phone you would need to set it there too.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled locally by your own phone. We are not told when they fire, whether you opened them, or whether you dismissed them, and no reminder data reaches our servers.
Photos you upload
If you add your own background photo, it is copied into the app’s private storage on your device. You can keep up to 20, and removing one — or resetting the app — deletes the copy the app made, not just the entry in the list.
If you have added an email to your account, the photo is also uploaded so that it survives a new phone. It goes into private storage that only your own account can read, it is never shared with anyone and never shown to another user, and deleting your account deletes it. On an anonymous account nothing is uploaded at all and the photo only ever exists on that device.
Payments
If you subscribe to Soul Lift Premium, the payment is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your card details, and Apple tells us only whether a subscription is active.
We use RevenueCat to keep track of whether your subscription is active. They receive the purchase receipt Apple issues, and an identifier for you: if you are signed in that is your account’s internal id, and if you are not it is a random one belonging to the installation. They do not receive your name, your email address, or anything you do in the app.
The reason the signed-in case uses your account id is that a membership belongs to your account rather than to the handset. It is what lets Premium follow you to a new phone, and what stops a subscription being inherited by the next person who makes an account on your device.
Children
Soul Lift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights and choices
You can erase everything held on your device at any time using Profile → Settings → Reset app.
You can delete your account yourself at any time, without asking us: Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. That immediately and permanently removes your account and everything attached to it from our account database — your login, your streak, your saved affirmations, your topic history and your settings — and it cannot be undone.
Two things are deliberately not covered by that button, because they live in a different system and are not attached to your account record. If you joined the mailing list, your email address stays there until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted, and the same is true of the record that we sent you an email. And our payments provider keeps its own record of your subscription, which is what lets a subscription be restored on a new phone and what Apple's own rules expect us to be able to account for. Email [email protected] and we will remove both by hand. Routine backups are also kept for a short period and age out on their own rather than being edited.
For anything else — a copy of your data, or a correction — email [email protected] and we will action it. We voluntarily offer the same access, correction and deletion rights to everyone, wherever you live, rather than only where a particular law requires it.
If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first at [email protected] with "Privacy complaint" in the subject line — it goes to the person who runs Soul Lift, not to a queue. We will acknowledge it within 5 business days and give you a written answer within 30 days, saying what we found and what we have done. If you are not satisfied with that answer, you can take it to a regulator: in Australia that is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), and elsewhere it is your local data protection authority. You do not have to complain to us first, but the OAIC will usually expect you to have tried.
Service providers
A small number of companies process data on our behalf, under their own terms and only for the purpose described:
- Supabase — account storage and syncing.
- Google (Gemini) — generating the nudge described above.
- RevenueCat — checking whether your Premium subscription is active.
- Apple — subscriptions, payment, and delivery of the app itself.
- Cloudflare — hosting the soul-lift.net and help.soul-lift.net websites, the mailing list, and the cookieless visit counts.
- Resend — actually delivering the emails described above. They receive the address the email is going to and its contents, and nothing else.
Where your data is held
Soul Lift is run from Australia. Where personal information leaves the country you are in, we rely on the contractual protections offered by those providers, and we remain accountable for how they handle it. If you would rather nothing left your device at all, you can use Soul Lift entirely without an account and without joining the mailing list — that is a supported way to use it, not a degraded one.
Where we know which country a provider handles your information in, we name it rather than leaving it vague:
- Account data (Supabase) — Singapore.
- The mailing list (Cloudflare) — a database created in the Asia-Pacific region. We have not pinned it to a single legal jurisdiction, so we will not claim it can never be served from elsewhere on Cloudflare’s network.
- Both websites (Cloudflare) — delivered from Cloudflare’s global network, which means the copy you read is served from wherever is nearest to you. The pages are the same public documents for everyone and contain nothing about you.
- The summary sent to write a nudge (Google) — processed by Google, which does not commit to a single region for this service; treat it as potentially anywhere Google operates, including the United States.
- Emails we send (Resend) — United States.
- Subscription status (RevenueCat) — United States.
- Payments (Apple) — handled entirely inside your App Store account; we never receive card details.
How long we keep things
Account data is kept for as long as the account exists, and disappears the moment you delete it. Nothing is aged out or trimmed while you still have an account: your streak, your longest run, your total days and your saved affirmations are the reason the account exists, and they stay until you delete it, however long you leave between visits.
The per-day record of which topics you read is kept on the same basis — for as long as the account does. Your phone itself holds only the last 90 days of it, because nothing in the app looks back further than a fortnight and an unbounded list would make it slower; that is a limit on what the device carries, not a promise that we delete the rest.
Anything held only on your device lasts until you remove it or uninstall the app.
Your email address stays on our mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, rather than for a set period. If you unsubscribe, we do not delete the address straight away: we move it to a do-not-send list, because that record is the thing that stops you being added back by a later import. All we hold there is the address, the date you left, and which route you used. If you would rather it were gone entirely, email us and we will delete it outright.
Keeping your data safe
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only in hashed form, and access to account data is restricted per account at the database level so one account cannot read another’s.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal information we will tell you, and the regulator, as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use Soul Lift after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Terms & Conditions
Last updated 31 August 2026
Agreement
These terms are between you and Manu Jacob (ABN 63 501 615 536), an individual trading as a sole trader (“we”, “us”), and they govern your use of the Soul Lift app and of our websites at soul-lift.net and help.soul-lift.net. By using any of them you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop.
Soul Lift is not medical care
This is the most important term here. Soul Lift provides affirmations and general wellbeing content for reflection. It is not therapy, counselling, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.
Nothing in the app — including the AI-written nudges — should be used to diagnose or treat any condition, and you should not delay or disregard professional advice because of something you read here.
If you are in crisis or may be at risk of harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. Soul Lift cannot help in an emergency and does not monitor for them.
Your account
You may use Soul Lift without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Soul Lift.
Free and paid features
Soul Lift has a free tier and a paid subscription called Soul Lift Premium. The free tier is a complete daily practice: an affirmation every day, unlimited swiping, favourites, affirmations you write yourself, streaks and reminders, together with six topics, six backgrounds and two app icons. Premium adds the remaining topics, backgrounds and app icons, and the guided sessions.
Which features sit in which tier may change as the app develops. If we move something out of the free tier we will say so in the app before it happens.
Subscriptions and payment
The price, billing period and any free trial are shown to you before you buy, and payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account. A free trial converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel before it ends.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, not in Soul Lift — we cannot cancel or refund an App Store purchase on your behalf. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law, or use Soul Lift to harm or harass anyone.
- Copy, resell, or redistribute the affirmation library or other app content.
- Reverse engineer the app, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.
- Interfere with the app’s operation, or attempt to overwhelm or probe our systems.
Content you write
Affirmations you write and photos you add remain yours, and we do not claim any rights over them. They are stored on your device, and — if you have added an email to your account — backed up to that account so they survive a new phone. We use them only to give the app back to you, and the Privacy Policy sets out where they are held.
Our content
The affirmation library, artwork, designs, and the Soul Lift name remain our property or our licensors’. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside the app, and nothing more.
Availability
We aim to keep Soul Lift working but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Features may change or be withdrawn, and syncing depends on services and connections outside our control.
Your data
Because Soul Lift stores your progress on your device, uninstalling the app without an account permanently deletes it. Keep an account if that matters to you — we cannot recover data we never held.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you are in Australia, our goods and services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees. Where we are permitted to limit our liability for breaching one, we limit it to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Ending your use
You can stop using Soul Lift at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will make that clear in the app, and continuing to use Soul Lift means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes fall to the courts of Victoria, Australia.
